Loving this game!
Side quests
1. For side quests that spawn encounters in every room, are those encounters rolled in addition to red room encounters and time track encounters?
2. If returning to a settlement after a side quest, do you roll on the Empire Investments table? (I.e., are "side quests" "quests"?)
Quests
In the Cloak of Bravery quest, there's a boss monster that appears after 6 Fear encounters. Can that monster escape? If it does, can you fail the quest, return to the dungeon, and have another 6 Fear encounters to trigger its reappearance?
Thanks very much!
Adding HP to a pack, would depend on the ability that is adding the HP. Regeneration would only replenish lost HP and would affect each in the pack that has sustained damage, unless otherwise stated by the quest or description (However I can't think of a monster I have given Pack and Regeneration abilities to); an example of this might be a pack monster that has a starting value of 6/6/6 that has been reduced to 0/5/6. The pack if regeneration was triggered (with a natural 1 on the packs dmg die) its HP would become 1/6/6. The regeneration only replenishes 2 Hp across the entire pack of monsters. So if the smae monster had HP 0/3/6 after a regeneration is triggered it would become 0/5/6.
A monster with the pack and allies abilities, the HP gets added at the end (on the right) of the entire HP line.
For Quest 3 You will need to kill the entire pack to count as 1 giant rat.
Two further questions, this time about Packs.
1. How does one add HP to Pack monsters? Is it distributed among them or given to the last?
2. If you are tasked with killing a certain number of Pack creatures (as in WB Q 3: Rat Problem), does each encounter count as 1 creature, or does each individual creature count?
Perfect, thanks for these responses! And thanks for this wonderful game.
Hi Zachary, For Q1 the monsters are encountered as the adventurer enters the area, red areas you do not have to roll for 2 monsters. All other encounters that occur still apply.
For Q2, side quests do still apply as quests for rolling on the empire investment table.
For the Cloak of Bravery quest, the Boss monster is upgraded to an elite, so it ignores all escape results. If the adventurer escapes the Boss monster they can fail and restart the quest from where they left off, so they can just re-encounter the Boss monster's area, and do not need to encounter the 6 monsters with the fear ability again.
Hope this helps, and I am glad your enjoying the game.
